Recruitment Contest with PRIZE!

New Volunteer training starts April 16.  We need 12 trainees to attend.  You can help and win a $25 Visa Gift Card. If you know a person who you feel that would be good Child Advocate Volunteer, refer them to us!  You can send the person’s contact information to us and we will follow up or they may call us and mention your name.If this person follows through in the April training, your name will be put into a raffle to win a $25 Visa Gift Card. The winner will be announced on Thursday April 23, 2015.

Trainings Available

Fostering Futures: Part 3 – April 8th from 5:45-8pm. CASA Office room 101. This will be part of the National CASA e-learning module as well.  We will discuss how a CASA can aid in getting adolescents ready for adulthood through discussion and encouraging connections.  Please notify Hannah if you are interested, and she will enroll you online.  HannahO@www.mtncasa.org

April Lunchtime Learning: Transgender Issues
The Summit County Lunchtime Learning is returning. Our first event for the year will be on Wednesday, April 22nd at 12:00pm in the Ten Mile Room of the Medical Office Building on the hospital campus in Frisco. This learning series is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about subjects specific to behavioral health and is presented by mental health professionals in your community.  Upcoming trainings will be:

Webinar: Supporting Children Affected by Prenatal Substance ExposureLynne Katz, Ed.D.

For close to three decades, a research-grounded university/juvenile court/child welfare/community provider partnership has come together to provide quality evidence-based interventions for families impacted by substance use and co-occurring risk factors and their young children ages 0-3. Creating effective interventions to support permanency and promote school readiness for this high-risk population takes planning and community buy-in supported by implementation research and cross-systems integration. This webinar will provide a roadmap of strategies which can now be utilized by all communities. Register here

Activity for Your Kids 
You can watch together or suggest your assigned child watch Tracy Beaker, a 20 minute children’s show about a 10-year-old foster girl who comes off as having “behavioral problems” by adults, but she tells stories of her mother being a Hollywood star who is busy making films, which is why she can not visit her daughter.  This is a British show that can be found on you tube.
